STRANDED AT THE DRIVE-IN MOVIE:

Admiral Twin. Ah yes, they took their name from a drive-in movie theater in Tulsa, which we decided to visit. It is after all, an important landmark, considering the reasons why we decided to visit Tulsa in the first place. So, having discovered the thoroughly exciting Tulsa bus system, we ventured out. We took the bus, and we drove, and drove and drove. We actually thought we might have crossed into Kansas when the bus driver instructed us that we had arrived.

  • Problem #1: Separating us and the Admiral Twin drive-in was a divided highway. Not exactly safe for pedestrians.
  • Problem#2: We could find no logical way to get over to it. So we went into Blockbuster Video and asked an unsuspecting sales clerk exactly how we could accomplish this. She told us.
  • Problem #3: Once we actually got over there, we discovered that Hot Rod Magazine was sponsoring a car show at the theater that day. Interesting crowd, I tell you. Lots of testosterone. Yesiree.
  • Problem #4: We didn't have a car, so we couldn't see a movie. Although I don't really think anything was playing at the time. Management probably wouldn't have appreciated it if we sat on the grass with the sound box in our hands, although I guess you never know unless you ask.

Random note: The drive in is on located on a strip of mini-malls, Taco Bells and video stores that reminds us of Plastow, NH. I don't really know if that's a good thing. It's true though.

So, we took a few pictures, got whooped at, waited at a Tulsa bus stop and had ourselves a fun time. Because if you have to wait at a bus station, you might as well wait at a Tulsa bus station. And all the little bus drivers sang indeed…
