Here's a transcript of my letter to ABC and their response:

Subject: Our National Anthem

Dear ABC,

As the US and China have had their differences recently, I'm thrilled to hear that ABC has decided to air one of the many ways that the world has discovered to find peace despite tensions: athletics. Unfortunately, I have heard that during the US-China women's soccer game, ABC has decided not to broadcast the singing of our National Anthem. I'm writing to ask that you reconsider the configuration of the broadcast so that your viewers could appreciate a moment of international good faith.

I look forward to hearing "Star Spangled Banner" sung during half-time.  It will be a moment of solidarity between two countries that could benefit from a display of mutual respect.

Thank you,
Jackie

I'm sure this response will sound very familiar to anyone who has written ABC in the past day:

Good Day,

Thank you very much for taking the time out to write to ABC Sports regarding the telecast of the Women's World Cup. It is always good to hear from our viewership regarding issues that are important.

Although we can not commit at this time to the showing of the national anthem, we will look into making an adjustment in our telecast to allow for it.

Thank you again for writing and thank you for watching ABC Sports.

Sincerely,

ABC Sports
