Charmed
- katiebae's review of 2004 Myrtle Beach HOB Concert, July 5,
2004
"After he walked away, I had to leave the scene. As in it was imperative
that I leave the scene. Laura and I hurried off to the other end of the
parking lot and I lost it. I busted out into a fit of giggles, releasing
the adrenaline that I’d kept in check in Isaac’s presence. Laura laughed
at me – all in good sentiment, of course. Much to my chagrin, Isaac Hanson
was/is capable to reducing me to a ball of teeny giggles."
An Inspiration-
katiebae's review of "This Time Around"
"It's really sad that having a great team behind a performer (ala
Britney Spears) means more than musicianship and songwriting. It's also
sad that relatively few people have shared in the wonder of this album..."
An Adventure-
katiebae's first Hanson concert experience
"Our Isaac, sexy, confident Isaac, alone on stage, only him and
his acoustic guitar. It was beautiful. Achingly beautiful. I was captivated.
I couldn’t help but feel like I was alone in a room with only him. Well,
as alone as you can feel with 3000 other girls around you..."
Ah, The Insanity!-
katiebae's take on the Hanson/M2M bruhaha
"But ethics seem to play no role here. It’s all about the benjamins,
baby. Any press is good press, even if it’s cheap, tawdry and has nothing
to do with the music. The Eminem phenomenon..."
Battle of
the B-Sides- katiebae's opinion on Hanson's unreleased tracks
" ' I Don’t Know' is purely Isaac Hanson. It was clearly written for his acoustic guitar,
his deep voice, and his even deeper emoting. Now, forget the amazingly
catchy melody, their incredible blending harmonies, and Taylor’s irresistable
tinkling keys…listen to the lyrics. This
song manages to capture that feeling of helplessness that is so universal..."
From the hands of
genius- katiebae's review of the "Save Me" video
"Regardless, the video is clearly a gift. To us. Those fans that
are ever-present in the land of the Internet. It shows that the boys know
where their target market is..."
Sometimes it's
the little people that know best - katiebae's guide to marketing
Hanson's next album
"I
know what you're all thinking--isn't the music enough? It's all so gosh
darn sleazy! It sucks, but it's an undeniable truth--sex and rock and
roll have travelled hand and hand since the beginning. Hanson has the
rock and roll down pat. We just need a little more sex. ;)"
Boys will be boys
- katiebae's take on some recent Hanson naughtiness
"Youth
and celebrity is often a dangerous combination. It isn't uncommon to hear
about child celebrities who ruin their lives because vices seem to be
so accessible in limelight. However, our golden-haired, angelic trio should
be immune to these vices, right?"
From
the Darkness Comes A Faint Light - katiebae's reaction to Hanson
Records With Sweet for Next LP
"Capturing a moment--especially
an intense, emotional moment--is always my hook for a good song. If this
album is full of those "no-holds-barred moments," what more
could we ask for?"
M2M: my favorite Norweigan
muffins - katiebae's take on M2M (yes, this actually has a lot
to do with Hanson)
"The boys agreed
to have M2M open for them for the majority of the This Time Around Tour
2000. They must have seen *something* in the girls that impressed them,
musically or not, that helped to make this decision. I’m trying to figure
out what that something is. "
Yeehaw:
Bang Bang Boom at the Calgary Stampede -
katiebae's Moffatts Concert Review
"Number of times Dave smiled silly because a cute girl was flirting
with him from a top her boyfriend's shoulders: 3 (Kate thinks Dave has
an adorable smile. Not as sparkly-eyed as Zac, but cute nonetheless)"
Way
To Stir The Pot, Boys - katiebae's
thoughts on h.net
chat on July 18, 2001
"It's very significant that they wrote this
song on tour. Thousands of screaming fans, all yearning to have some brief
contact with them and more importantly, all with a separate picture in
their heads about what Hanson really is. 'You don't have me' isn't literal,
it's figurative--their acknowlegement that we can never really truly know
them. Am I being too deep?"
Here's
The Love - katiebae's review of 2003 Anaheim House Of Blues concert,
August 31,2003
"Isaac has
experienced something profound the last three years. Something that has
affected his speech, his carriage, his presence. Whether it was love or
heartbreak or fighting for his right to create, there is something different
about Isaac. He is actually comfortable in his own skin."
What's Real
- katiebae's review of 2003 Anaheim
House Of Blues concert, August 31,2003
"It's about *that* kind of love - the kind that leaves you breathless
from the depth of feeling, the kind that is equal parts wonderful and
devastating and despite it all is still everything you could possibly
want. It becomes real because you wonder how Taylor could've have survived
it."
