updates backlog

12.29.01
Hey kids. Belated Happy Holidays. Hope Santa was good to you. :)

Just a little note that I updated DEAR ISAAC today. Isaac was being neglected since I've been so busy with Bright White Hopes And Blue Yonder Dreams. I have to thank everyone who's commented on the story, so far. Let me tell ya...It's hard to write every single day, but it's been fun. I'm really enjoying the story, and I like how it's turning out. I hope you guys like it too. ;)

12.10.01
Kate has started a brand new story for you guys to feast your Hanson-drought-starved eyes on. ;) It's called Bright White Hopes And Blue Yonder Dreams (try saying the 5 times fast). The exciting thing is that the story is featured on Laura and Llama's Pulp-fiction-a-thon.

It's a fabulous new project that was cooked up to encourage some kick-ass writing in the fanfic community. What this means is that for the next thirty days, starting on December 15, you will see a 300 word installment of the story EVERY SINGLE DAY. Yep, that's right. Here's hoping that Kate is going to be able to pull this off. ;)

If you visit the link, you'll see that I'm using livejournal to post my entries, so I don't have to bother with html. The cool thing is that there's a built-in thingy for you to send me comments, encouraging or otherwise. ;) So no excuses! All you have to do it click the "Add Your Own" link at the bottom of each entry to send feedback.

Oh yes...and don't forget to visit the other writers' pages participating in the challenge. Guaranteed, you'll have some damn good writing to keep you entertained.

And hell...if you're up for the challenge, join up! The more the merrier. ;)

11.02.01
Yeah, yeah...I know that I'm so neglecting Space For Breathing. So in an effort to keep that from happening, I've added a new feature to keep you all entertained...

::cue drum roll:: Introducing...

DEAR ISAAC

What is it? Basically, I jumped on the LiveJournal bandwagon, and I'm using it for random hanson fun. ;) Go check it out...I think you'll get the idea.

And dudes...Subscriptions to HTP Magazine are wide open. I got a sneak peek of everyone's new articles, and they're amazing. Be sure to get your copy. It's a must for surviving this stinking drought of ours.

09.27.01
New layout, commemorating the anniversary of the one and only Hanson concert I attended. It's a few days early, but I thought it was about time for an update. ::sigh:: I can't believe it's been a year.

I added a new link to another atmosphere. The Dreaming Tree. Check out Casey's amazing dialogue and quick-witted writing. If I could pick one webmaster to be Zac's girlfriend, it would be her. The girl's a badass!

And guess what? Kate actually wrote some fiction. :D Check out not one, but TWO new short stories, Voyeur and Vignette. No, they're not related. I just had this weird affinity to French words that started with 'v'. Don't ask...

As always, feedback is much appreciated.

08.29.01
Whoa...it's been a long time.

Contrary to popular belief, Kate has not disappeared off the face of the earth. I'm finally all settled into my new home in Charlotte, NC. So instead of saying "eh," I'll be saying "y'all" from now on. ;)

And I *have* been writing, just not for the site at the moment. Upcoming pieces include:

1) New article for the next issue of HTP. Get your subscriptions, kids! Thanks to everyone for all the answers to my questions. I'm thinking that the article may take a different spin than I had originally intended, but the information that everyone sent me really helped in writing it. :)

2) I wrote a piece for Pulp's Fiction Issue that's currently in review. ::crosses fingers:: Let's hope that Laura and Amanda will choose it to be featured. ;)

That's it, that's all for now. Email is always welcome. :)

BTW, if you're looking for some good hanfic to read, check out the Naked City. Very cute and witty. :)

07.19.01
New random commentary on the h.net chat that happened last night. ;)

This is sort of Hansony...I went to see the Moffatts perform last night at the Calgary Stampede. The only reason why I went is because Hannah claimed that Bob is a better drummer than Zac, so I had to see for myself.

I wrote up a little review of the show. It's called Yeehaw: Bang Bang Boom at the Calgary Stampede. Yep...can you tell that it's a Hanson drought?

Also, since Listbot is closing down, I've had to move my mailing list to Bravenet. If you'd like to receive an e-mail when I update the site, please join the new mailing list below. I hope y'all are having a fabulous weekend. ;)

How Kate is feeling: complete shock and amazement. Lookie what I got in my inbox:

"Congratulations! You've won and/or received an honourable mention in the 2nd Literary Hanfic Awards in the following categories.

WON: Best Romance Writer (for 'Three Days')

Honourable Mention: Best Romance (for 'Three Days') & Best New Writer"

Thanks so much to the judges of the 2nd LHA's. :D

* * *

Whoa...Guess what?! Kate actually wrote some fiction. Go check out my new short story called, The Best Place For Coffee And Best Friends. It's not much, but maybe it's a sign that this writer's block is about to be kicked. Yay!

Reason #58374234 why Kate loves Hanson:
As if this isn't the cutest thing I've *ever* seen in my whole life! ::squeals:: Hanson with the grandmother...and her name is Bea. Awwww! That's so sweet, I'm going to have to brush my teeth. Sorry, calming down now. ;)

Best thing about that picture? Look at their hands. Beautiful. I just love how Taylor's displaying his ring. hehe. And seeing Isaac's hands, I keep thinking about those wedding pictures where they'd have his hands and his bride's, wearing the mega diamond ring. Theirs will be stunning. ::sigh::

And the article is pretty dang awesome, I must say. Hanson just keeps proving to the world what we already know: that being in the music industry does not translate into turning young people into un-thinking, socially unconscious neandrathals. Their comments are insightful, intelligent, and it was wonderful to see how impressed the journalist was in portraying them as such. (Even though, Isaac did ramble a little. hehe.) hmmm...Can I please take one of them home? ;)

Reason #58374235 why Kate loves Hanson:
Just when I was losing all hope, thinking that we wouldn't hear another word from our boys until promotions for the new album, Rolling Stone gives us this article. So yeah, it's probably more because of *who* they're working with, rather than what their working on that got them that bit of media coverage, but I can't help but falling into Hanson-induced giddyness when thinking about the prospects of this new album. I'm curious to see how they'll work with Glenn Ballard. Hmm...yet another Moffatts connection. ;)

Best bit? Details of "Your Illusion," (as if that isn't the most brilliant title *ever*), "a documentary of the album-making process and sort of the whole gauntlet of things that go on," Taylor says. "From the beginning of an album to the end. It's like, 'Here's what you think we are, and here's what we really are.' We wanna take it to Sundance, see if we can get it into festivals." So...who wants to come with me to Utah in 2002? ;)

Okay, I'm done now. :D

05.27.01
Yeah, I know I suck. :( I haven't been doing much writing for this site lately...It's very upsetting. This drought just sucks...

This summer, I'm going to be moving to North Carolina, so a lot of my time has been going into planning for that. The cool thing is...when the boys go on tour *next* summer, I'll be a lot closer to the venues. :D That is, if I can survive until then. ::sigh:: Anyone out there lucky enough to be going to Riverfest or Fanfest?

So anyway...I'm in need of some inspiration. Have you guys read any really good hanfic lately that's caught your attention? I find that when I read something that gets me excited, it totally gets the idea juices flowing, you know? Let me know. :)

Ooh, SFB has also been nominated at the summer more.than.words.hanfic.awards. Check out the awards page to vote. :D

05.10.01
I'm officially shocked and just completely humbled. I've been nominated for the following Literary Hanfic Awards:

  • Best Development of Isaac as the Main Character (Three Days)
  • Best Romance (Three Days)
  • Best Romance Writer
  • Best New Writer

Thank you so much to everyone who nominated. *big kisses* These awards are judged, so it's completely an honor to be among such a talented group of writers. Everyone should go check out all the nominees. Quite a few of my favorite authors are there. :)

BTW, the Lifehouse/Matchbox 20 concert was incredible. Kate is officially in love with Jason Wade. And I didn't mind Rob Thomas in leather pants and a sweaty t-shirt, either. He'd give Taylor a run for his money in the diva department. ;) Oh, and the music was really good too. :X

05.06.01
*gasp* Another update, and it's only been three days! hehe.

Anyway, I just have to say, "I love Isaac Hanson." He is a sassy little bugger. This little review of the U2 concert in Dallas has to be one of the dorkiest (in a completely lovable sort of way), wittiest things I've read to come from a Hanson. I just love how he so unabashedly expresses his love for Bono. ;)

Out of sheer boredom, I wrote this little review of M2M. I know, I know....You guys probably think I've fallen out of my rocker, but go read it. It's actually got lots to do with Hanson. :)

Alrighty...off I go to the Lifehouse/Matchbox 20 concert. Woohoo! :D

05.03.01
Anyway, a couple of things...Big news on the HTP front: Due to popular demand, we've extended the deadline for subscriptions to May 14. I know there's procrastinators out there who missed the last deadline, so here's you chance! Go subscribe, and Kate will be your best friend forever. :D

Voting for the Waiting to be read awards ends in two days, so go vote for your favorites. :)

And last, but not the least...I'm actually posting a new story! Can you believe it?! The first chapter of Night Life is up for you perusal. It's not much, and it's really teenie, but I think it'll be fun. :)

04.06.01
No real update today...Just wanted to express more giddyness about the new album!

I spent this week listening to Matthew Sweet's "Blue on Mars." A little research, shall we say? ;) I hadn't paid much attention to his stuff before, and I was very pleased. He's got a very Beatle-esque sound that's going to be really great with the boys' style.

In an article on MTV news, it says that there is still the possibility that they may write me Ben Folds. How absolutely thrilling. :)

As for writing..."Night Life" is totally not moving as well as I would like it too. :( I'm thinking about taking a break from it for a bit and writing other things to get me inspired. ::sigh::

Anyway, I hope that you all have a good weekend! And e-mail me. ;) We'll entertain each other during this drought. hehe.

03.25.01
Wow, Kate actually did some writing this week. :)

I just posted two new articles in blowing wind. I'm completely on commentary-writing mode for some strange reason.

A little while ago, I submitted my article to be published in HTP. It's called, "Musings Of A Newbie--Missing Out On the MMMBop Wave Of 1997." I'm really excited about the way it turned out, and I can't wait for you guys to read it. :) (Not so subtle hint to subscribe to HTP... ;))

I added three new links to another atmosphere. Go check them out!

03.18.01
Welcome to Space For Breathing's new home at brightandbeautiful.org!

Big shout out to Laura! Thanks so much for hosting me! :) It's totally an honor to be a part of this awesome domain.

There are still some housekeeping things I have to do, so you'll have to bear with me.

What do you guys think of the new layout? That beautifully serene picture was taken on a beach in Cancun at 7am, just as the sun was reaching its peak on a perfect azure sky....::sigh:: I want to go back!

Sign the guestbook or e-mail me and let me know what you think. :)
