Party Poopers

I'll say it. By April I'd basically heard all of the album. My only hope for being surprised was that the songs would suck so bad I would block the horrible memories. No such luck. Darn. Who supplied these things? And why? Did we tell you what was in that huge box for your birthday? No, we didn't. (It's a Sony.) So why why why makes MP3s? You know we have no willpower. Shame! Shame I say! Not to mention that they're illegal...but that's besides the point... the whole moral of the issue is on hand. Hanson went to desperate (okay, so I don't know, sue me) measures to keep this album under wraps. To the point that we had to steal a demo. (I had nothing to do with it. Really.) After 2 years of silence, we see and MP3 of a new song and we're supposed to say, "Oh, hey, what do you know." Sure, yeah, right, yeah, real likely, and I would giv Eminem my kidney.

Update: 9/24/00
Well, now I suppose every human being on the planet knows what an MP3 is (thought I was surprised when a 50-something man on his way from Boston to Minneapolis tapped me on the shoulder while I was on an airplane and asked me if my CD player was a MP3 player…). Thanks to, of course, Napster. More so, thanks to Lars Ulrich. Ah yes, Lars Ulrich, the (rather odd-looking) drummer for Metallica (“Hey!”, you say enthusiastically, “I know them! Hey hey heeey… um… do do do do” and you foolishly try to impersonate “I Disappear”, the only song you know, due to those weeks of watching TRL to see “If Only”) who single-handedly (well, he had a little help from Eminem and Dre, who do everything together… not that we needed to know that) is trying to shut down a computer program that reaches 20,000,000 users. I agree that musicians should be paid for their music, I completely respect that. I use Napster for bootlegs and for MP3s off of albums I either already own or just ordered. Okay well not always. But there is NO WAY I am going to buy a Christina Aguilera CD. And I bought a 2gether single. Call me a sinner or call me a saint, I like mp3s as much as I hate them, and I hope they're here to stay.
